New Office Project in Sirkeci

The Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ICOC) Advisory Board formed in 2013, determined the project to be proposed for Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey-ICOC Sirkeci Project by an architectural competition. As a result, Bünyamin Derman Architecture won the first prize in 2014. TOBB-ICOC Sirkeci Prestige Project, at the footprint of where the ICOC’s Liman Han, TOBB’s Güneş Han and the carpark belonging to both ICOC and TOBB existed, was proposing a congress center, meeting halls, trade center, accommodation facilities, observation terrace and parking facility. Although the project was accepted at the ordinary meeting in December 2015, it could not be implemented.

After that with the separation of the lands, our Office was on stage to prepare a separate project for Güneş Han, belonging to TOBB. After one year from our offer, it feels exciting now to start this project.

With this excitement of creating a modern office building in an ancient land, the historic peninsula; we are preparing a scenario based on demolishing the building to create appropriate floor heights, but staying faithful to the existing building façade by modernizing it. The office building that we will design in the open office idea will be rented as shell & core. We expect the project to be approximately 4000m2 with retail area on the ground floor.
